Expressing My Gratitude

I’m happy to see that many of my lifters are reading my blog posts. And for those of you who aren’t my lifters, I’m happy you’re here too.

See, here’s the thing, I’m not just a coach. I’m a teacher. And for my students to improve, they need to be open to understanding what I’m teaching. Reading these blog posts isn’t just about absorbing information, it’s about shining a light on the weak areas in your understanding.

As with everything in life, you can’t just show up and punch your time card. If you want to be great at what you're training to be great at, you have to put in the effort to deepen your understanding. Through this process, me writing, you reading, and us working through these concepts together, we develop better ways to help you grasp what actually drives long-term progress.

Be Present in Every Rep

At the core of all of this, what I’m really asking of you is that you be present in every single repetition. That’s the connection between body and mind. Life is full of distractions, but if you can develop the ability to be present when it matters, you’ll get the most out of both training and life.

When we’re not present, that’s when things go sideways. We feel blindsided, frustrated that we’re not making progress, or worse we get hurt.

Take Responsibility for Your Training

The lifters who take initiative and ownership of their training always see the best results. Becoming autonomous doesn’t happen overnight. It’s something that builds over time through consistent, applied effort. If you’re only here for the short-term, treating this like just another phase, then lifting will become one of those things you used to do, something you talk about when you're older but no longer do.

But if you’re in it for the long haul, you’ll build something that is forever.

I’m grateful for all of you who take the time to read, learn, and grow. Take a few minutes and think about three things your grateful for and enjoy this day.

Thank you.
